Coronavirus: Irish appeal for Native American after famine kindness gives back $1m

The Choctaw community sent $170 to Ireland during a famine in the 18th century and now generation COVID has paid it back in an appeal that has raised $1m.

Nearly 27,000 Irish people have donated online and dozens more by post.

With limited healthcare, food supplies and clean water, the Navaho and Hopi communities had been facing a humanitarian crisis.
