Olivia Munn welcomes daughter via surrogate a year after cancer diagnosis

Hollywood actress Olivia Munn and comedian John Mulaney have welcomed a daughter via surrogacy.

The X-Men star shared photos of baby Mei on Instagram and said she was born on 14 September.

Munn, 44, posted: “Mei June Mulaney came into the world September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon.

“I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter. When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother.

“She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel.

“Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come true.”

She added: “I am so proud of my little plum, my little dragon for making the journey to be with us. My heart has exploded. Mei (pronounced may) means plum in Chinese.”

Mulaney, 42, a comedian and actor who wrote for Saturday Night Live, posted on social media: “I love my little girl so much” – also joking “we stole so much stuff from the hospital”.

The couple already have a son named Malcolm, who’s nearly three years old.

In March, Munn revealed she’d had four surgeries – including a double mastectomy – for an aggressive form of breast cancer.

She said early detection of the disease had saved her life.

Munn also revealed on Instagram a few weeks ago that she’d had a partial hysterectomy and oophorectomy (surgery to remove one or both ovaries).

She also began taking breast cancer drug Arimidex in August.

And earlier this year Munn told Vogue she froze her eggs after her diagnosis to allow the couple the chance to have another child.

Munn found fame on TV shows including The Daily Show and The Newsroom, as well as appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse.
