Range Rover has over 48,000 buyers waiting on its first electric SUV

The first all-electric Range Rover is almost here. Although its official debut is just around the corner, the Range Rover Electric has already secured over 48,000 clients on the waitlist.

After announcing first-half results for fiscal 2025, Jaguar Land Rover announced its upcoming EV is already generating hype.

JLR said it “currently has over 48,000 clients on the waiting list for Range Rover Electric.” The company added that it would be the first of its next-gen zero-emission luxury EVs under its umbrella of brands.

The latest update comes after JLR announced Range Rover’s first EV was “generating strong interest,” with 16,000 on the waitlist in February.

By June, reservations had more than doubled to over 38,000. In August, JRL said the new EV had over 42,000 waiting.

At the end of October, Range Rover’s first electric SUV had secured over 48,000 on the waitlist. The announcement came after JRL saw global sales rise 29% YOY in the first half of fiscal 2025.

The waitlist for Range Rover’s electric SUV is growing

The company said the growth was due to higher demand for its plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), with global PHEV sales up 47% YOY.

According to JLR, its customers are using PHEVs “as a stepping stone towards battery electric vehicles (BEVs).”

Range Rover claims its new in-house EV powertrain will help the brand “exceed its already renowned performance on low-grip surfaces, ensuring all-terrain, all-weather, and all-surface capability.”

The first all-electric Range Rover will also feature a new traction control system, which is being tested in extreme conditions to ensure it lives up to the brand’s reputation.

With a claimed wading depth of 33.8″ (850 mm), Range Rover’s first EV can plow through deeper water than the GMC Hummer EV at 32″.

Range Rover is expected to unveil its highly-anticipated electric SUV later this year. Ahead of its debut, we have already caught a glimpse of Range Rover’s second EV, possibly the smaller Velar, testing out in public for the first time in August.
